Let’s celebrate The International Day of Friendship

Today we celebrate The International Day of Friendship – a day proclaimed by the UN General Assembly to promote international understanding and a respect for diversity. Today, we encourage you to reach out to your neighbour with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.

To get you inspired, we wanted to share with you a few quotes from some wise folks that celebrate friendship and the power it has to keep us mentally sound and socially connected in a world that sometimes can feel a little scary. Share them with your friends or send them to someone you respect. May they inspire you to be a good friend and to reach out to become a friend to someone new.

I know there is strength in the difference between us. I know there is comfort where we overlap – Ani DiFranco
A single rose can be my garden… a single friend, my world – Leo Buscaglia

Every successful individual knows that his or her achievement depends on a community of persons working together – Paul Ryan
Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: “What! You too? I thought I was the only one – C.S. Lewis
I think if I’ve learned anything about friendship, it’s to hang in, stay connected, fight for them, and let them fight for you. Don’t walk away, don’t be distracted, don’t be too busy or tired, don’t take them for granted. Friends are part of the glue that holds life and faith together. Powerful stuff – Jon Katz
Never leave a friend behind. Friends are all we have to get us through this life – and they are the only things from this world that we could hope to see in the next – Dean Koontz, Fear Nothing
A good friend is a connection to life – a tie to the past, a road to the future, the key to sanity in a totally insane world – Lois Wyse
Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light – Helen Keller
